• Josefina Del Mármol | Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists

Recognized for: Providing the first, structural snapshot of odor detection by an olfactory receptor (OR) from any species at the near atomic-level. At the molecular level, odors are composed of combinations of millions of chemically diverse compounds that animals must sense with only tens or hundreds of ORs.

  • Philipp Brand is named the 2022 Dobzhansky Prize winner

Congratulations to the 2022 Dobzhansky Prize winner, Dr. Philipp Brand. Dr. Brand is a Junior Fellow of the Simons Society of Fellows and postdoctoral associate at Rockefeller University in New York. His research focuses on integrating evolutionary biology and neuroscience to develop a mechanistic understanding of behavioral evolution and its role in the origin of species. Dr. Brand uses a multidisciplinary approach spanning ethology, molecular evolution, and systems neuroscience. In his ongoing work, he studies how the nervous system evolves species-specific behavioral repertoires across Drosophila species.
